Important | 2019-09-13

In order to foster a stronger relationship between Lithuania and India, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is opening India Centre. Among the first activities of the yet-to-be-officially-launched Centre will be workshops for the students and the staff taking place during the upcoming multicultural week (tentatively 30 and 31 October).

According to the Head of India Centre Runa Chakraborty Paunksnis, Associate Professor at the KTU Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, the Centre aims to spread awareness about India not only among the students of KTU but also to the wider community, outside the University walls.

“Academic and cultural activities of the Centre will help Indian students understand Lithuanian culture. The Centre will work towards making cultural integration possible for both Indian and Lithuanian students and staff members”, says Runa Chakraborty Paunksnis.

Among the first activities of the India Centre will be workshops for students and the faculty and the administrative staff during the upcoming multicultural week (tentatively 30 and 31 October), organised by the KTU International Relations Department.

“Though geographically far apart, India and Lithuania have similar political, social and cultural histories. I believe that our student and academic communities will benefit from each other through intellectual and cultural transactions”, says the Head of the new India Centre.

India Centre will be located at the KTU Central Building.

Currently, more than 300 students from India are studying at KTU.
